Today’s Scripture Matthew 24:36-51 36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels ofheaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 For as were the days of Noah, sowill be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For as in those days before the floodthey were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until theday when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the floodcame and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41 Twowomen will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord iscoming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in whatpart of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake andwould not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must beready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. 45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has setover his household, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Blessed isthat servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 47 Truly, Isay to you, he will set him over all his possessions. 48 But if that wickedservant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ 49 and begins to beat hisfellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, 50 the master of thatservant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour hedoes not know 51 and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Today’s Scripture Psalm 116 1 I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. 2 Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. 3 The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. 4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!” 5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful. 6 The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. 7 Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. 8 For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; 9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. 10 I believed, even when I spoke: “I am greatly afflicted”; 11 I said in my alarm, “All mankind are liars.” 12 What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD, 14 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. 16 O LORD, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. 18 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, 19 in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
Today’s Scripture Matthew 24:15-35 15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophetDaniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then letthose who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let the one who is on thehousetop not go down to take what is in his house, 18 and let the one who isin the field not turn back to take his cloak. 19 And alas for women who arepregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! 20 Pray thatyour flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21 For then there will begreat tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world untilnow, no, and never will be. 22 And if those days had not been cut short, nohuman being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will becut short. 23 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Therehe is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise andperform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even theelect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. 26 So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he isin the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines asfar as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever thecorpse is, there the vultures will gather. 29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will bedarkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall fromheaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear inheaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth willmourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heavenwith power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loudtrumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from oneend of heaven to the other. 32 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tenderand puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when yousee all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I sayto you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
